Edge Hill University's Cynical Celebration of Movember
Movember, an annual growing of moustaches in November to raise awareness of mental health issues faced by men, has recently been cynically celebrated by Edge Hill University.
This is a University that expelled a suicidal disabled student for freedom of expression (using an illegal chilling effect clause before changing the reason for the expulsion when that was challenged on free speech grounds) after having almost made that student homeless and harassed them for months, did nothing about a student who threatened to knife a girl, humiliated an autistic student, and allowed a group of students to bully another female student - including graffitiing on her belongings and stealing her other belongings.
In short, Edge Hill University both allowed and actively caused mental health problems in vulnerable students.
It is absolutely vile for such a University (which also pretended to support Black Lives Matter but used a previous photo related to the University's false claim to support autistic students) to publicly pretend to support mental health when it actively harms the mental health of students, including vulnerable students.
The Vice Chancellor, John Cater, CBE DL, should be ashamed. But as this is the same VC who used a student's desperate plea for support against that student, the likelihood of Cater feeling anything other than glee is non-existent.
