Edge Hill University Court Cases
This is not an exhaustive list of cases, as some were not published.
Even the staff at Edge Hill University are not happy - no wonder, considering the fact that their rights have been ignored (even the right to a break). Unusually for Edge Hill University, they actually admitted to this (click that text to see evidence) in their response to an FOI request. Perhaps that's a sign that they're going to begin responding to problems in a more productive way rather than lies and attacking students and staff. But then, as they still lied about cutting breaks short, maybe not. We'll see.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of legal cases (court / employment tribunal) against Edge Hill University. Unfortunately, Edge Hill University has very expensive lawyers (Eversheds Sutherland, though these may have changed now to some equally expensive firm of lawyers) to defend the corrupt institution, so none of these cases seem to have been won by "the little person". But this little person isn't going away.
Edge Hill University accused of unfair dismissal - Mr P. Reynolds vs Edge Hill University
The second case was Mrs D Hewitson v Edge Hill University. It's important to remember that, while many cases against companies have been won on appeal, it's a financial risk to appeal. In the cases above, the claimants were representing themselves and didn't have the large sums of money to throw at their cases that Edge Hill University had to defend them. Nor did they have the years of legal training and mock court practice that qualified lawyers (solicitors, barristers, etc.) have.
Edge Hill University drags cancer victim back to court after dismissal
All of the cases are disturbing but this one is particularly egregious. A victim of cancer (Ms E Glasby) had to take time off as a result of the cancer , was dismissed because of this, and won an unfair dismissal claim. Not happy with this, Edge Hill University management (under the leadership of John Cater) dragged the cancer victim back to court to use their corrupt connections to appeal. The claimant was forced to use a legal charity, Advocate. Whilst there is no doubt about the competence of the people volunteering to provide legal representation for Advocate (they are barristers), legal cases cost money and the victim in this case, as evidence by using the services of Advocate, didn't have the money to throw at the case that Edge Hill had. Edge Hill dragged the case out for over half a decade.
